Impressive bit of research

Daily Nixx Archive | Wednesday, 27 September | Respond

I'm very impressed this morning with the work of super investigative journalist Dom Self, as he blogs the results of an experiment into what churches think of Ricky Martin's Livin Da Vida Loca.

The experiment and its results can be seen here: http://dominicself.co.uk/blog/index.php?itemid=728

Meanwhile, it's time for me to go and sneeze again.

Yes, I have a cold. No, I am not dying. But I do get most of today and tomorrow off, which is all good. Today, I'll be in college at 10 untill 11. I'll then pop to Northfield, buy a coffee machine from Argos, before getting on another bus and flying into Rubery.

When I get home, I'll greet a builder. Who's knocking down a substantial part of the bricks in the living room, and putting them back together again, but one brick thicker and probably with new mortar.

Well, you'd hope so wouldn't you?

Costa tales

Daily Nixx Archive | Sunday, 17 September | Respond

Yesterday, for the first time ever I managed to remember I hadn't yet tried a Mocha coffee. And I remembered enough that I asked for one in Costa - in, get this, WH Smith! Yes, not only did I try...

... a new coffee but it was in a whole new coffee shop! Why, I hear those of you knowing me ask, were you not in Costain Waterstones, Nic?

Well, due to "unforseen circumstances" the place was closed! I dunno heh - last time we went in the dish washer was broken so everything was being served in paper cups, and this time the shop itself or its staff had broken. I can't be having that!!

But yes - my verdict: get me more mocha. A combination of frothed chocolate milk, and coffee, is - whilst sounding a bit stupid - delicious. And next time, I might just add a flake. Although perhaps not a saussage roll as well! ;)

Well what am I doing? I'm sat here, at my desk, typing a blog drinking a "skinny" late. Anyone spot a fixation of mine? (hint: CAFFINE). Why can't the milk man come on Sundays? I mean, I am still going to drink milk, I am still consuming it - but there's no supply. And before anyone asks, no I cannot have extra delivered on a Saturday.

COFFEEE!

BUT, breaking news - I have just taken a visit to the Costa website and have discovered that they are now franchising. Does that mean they're going to have to get rid of the signs in the stores which say: "we are the only coffee shop in the UK that owns every part of the coffee process, right up to the stores?".

I think so. I also think knowing that off by heart is very sad.

Today's top tip: get downloading Lucy by Jealousy, but try and get the original. Before it became a dance hit, it's quite sexually done as a country/acoustic style piece of music. It's very good, as is the dance version. And it's ALLLLL on the iTunes Store.

Which reminds me - the Windows users amongst us may not want to download iTunes 7. It's got some rather nasty bugs which include audio stuttering if anything else tries to use audio, and the fact that the entire system freezes every time it changes song. Lovely.

Until tomorrow, my blog readers.
Au Revoir!

A quickie before bed...

Daily Nixx Archive | Thursday, 07 September | Respond

Something no-one's going to turn down, heh? Well, I seem to have got back into the habbit of working now - I've been doing things since around 7am this morning.

And for those of you that are confused - the...

... blog earlier was written on Monday. How very confusing? We're a day behind the whole time!!

So - today? Well, I managed to get a lot of the website completed and I've just had an e-mail from the very happy and energetic out woman who runs the company saying she loves it - her exact words:

"Cor! What a super website!"

So I'm very pleased with that! And I managed to make at least some effort towards the festival stuff as well - I've made progress and now have some bits of my folder put together and ready to go with me tomorrow. So, what's on the agenda tomorrow?

My bus pass picture

Well - hopefully my TWM bus pass will arrive. I need to travel back and forth on the bus every day - so I've been bought a lovely £260 pass to go anywhere on a TWM bus until July. I will use it lots!! But even for that I had to take a picture of myself, cut myself out and make sure that the background was white, then make it the right shape for a passport picture and then there was still the re-sizing to do, to make sure it would upload ok. But it worked in the end, and I can now look a bit un-clean for the rest of my college career. Or at least this year of it. I really should have shaved, shouldn't I?

I've also applied for jobs at Paperchase in Selfridges, and Tk Maxx, as well as one at Bromsgrove School. The application forms killed me. How many questions do I need to sell last season's fashion in the Bull Ring? Lots, apparently. And I think I gave some bloody good answers!

One last thing - Royal Mail have impressed me today. They sent me 200 envelopes in the fastest time I've ever seen! Plus, lots of things to print tomorrow ready for the festival meeting. And for those of you wondering - now, I'm not sad enough to buy that many envelopes. They're for the festival application packs!

Now, me and Pingu have decided we want some chicken nuggets. So I'm going into the kitchen to get some (but I know there won't be any, and this depresses me!)

Until 7am - my peoples - goodnight ;)
