With the cries of “it’s only bleeeeyyy new year,” from millions of radio one fans, Scott Mills and his crew welcomed me into the new year - 2007. Something which will bring grave danger to the people around the...
... Rubery streets and roads, as I begin my quest of learning to drive, and when I find out if I’m up to doing AS exams. I can tell you already, I don’t want to be doing them!
But the new year has started, and on Wednesday I’ll be starting my new job at Costa Coffee – as a supervisor team member at the Bromsgrove store when it opens, working weekends. But if you know me more than by reading my blog then you already know that!! So, a year of driving & coffee – does that equal late night driving?
Anyhow – I thought it’d be a good idea to reflect on the past year and I wasn’t sure how to do it. Months? Groupings? Subjects? Maybe I could reflect on q1, 2, 3 and 4 of the year? Nah, I don’t think so.
But I will go and get a coffee, the first of 2007, to accompany me as I write this monologue of the year. Please excuse me if I do go off at a tangent at any point!!
People
Well – it’s been a hectic one. I’ve left school in May – well, aside from exams – and said goodbye to most of my school mates. Still see some of them, like Josie, Kelly, Leah, et al…but not many really in comparison. The Prom was in July and it ended everything. But that wasn’t it – I also said hello to lots of new people: Max, Mike, Laura, Kev, Lorretta, Jess, Grace, and – of course, Claire Saddler, as such! Plus, people I didn’t know very well from school – Joff, JJ, JT, Luke Hassan (OK, I knew him quite well) and Richard – who I’d become quite close to over the past year, spending 20 minutes a morning with him and either Thurbon or Miiiiisssss Kniiiighhhttt at WHHS.
I’ve also, of course, said goodbye to my role as editor of rv – and that means that I’ve lost touch with councillors, police people and lots of people. But I think it’s been a year where I’ve developed a much better relationship with Tristan & Rob
Places
Almost Nantwich, but not. Still in Rubery – but spending far more time in a place known as King’s Norton. Kinda scary, but heh – I love the Redditch road. It’s also been the final year where I haven’t been able to drive, and a year where I’ve visited Wales a lot, on holiday.
Holidays & visits
Had lots! For the first time I visited Josie’s place in Wales. A lil place called Aberdovey. We’ve since been back – although it was a bit shit weather compared to how it was when we went the last time – in June. When we frolicked in the sand and couldn’t tackle the hill until much later in the evening, when it had cooled off. We’ve since found out about Lover’s Lane, which gets you there via a different, slightly less steep, road. And then brings you out by the farmhouse. T’is all good. I can assure you though, none of us are lovers.
Unusually for me, I also went on ANOTHER British-isles holiday. I’ve been down to Cornwall to visit our family apartment place in Downderry. It’s lovely! You should visit. Although not when I’m there, because you’d get irritating being like…around.
I can reveal though, that Downderry featured the monopolistic First – but they use DOUBLE DECKERS, while Wales features both Arriva Cyrmu (with its HQ in Liverpool oddly) and Llyod’s Coaches rule the roads. Arriva are expensive, and should be First in our terms, while LC are Diamond Bus and own a single adapted-Metro with several seats.
So where else have I been then?
I’ve visited Majorca – a place full of chavs and which I’d rather have been at the other end of. JJ & Adz went and saw DJ Sammy perform live. I hate them with jealousy. And that marked my last family holiday ever, probably.
Infact, I’ve been around quite a bit: I’ve done Buxton (look at the bottles of water – there’s a pub on it. It’s called the Cat & The Fiddle, and I’ve been into it), Warrington, Chapel-En-Le-Frifth, Northwich, – I’ve not yet made it to Ireland, though. It’s my goal for 2007.
B
Nothing needs saying. Anyone who knows about this will know and – know what I think. Ah well! It’s been over a year since we pprroopppperrlllllyyyy started talking now!
Goals
So., I set myself a load of goals at the start of the year. Yup, out of the 12 I had, I’ve done 11. So I’m happy. This year has been a success for me. I hope it has for you.
Happy New Year Everyone – but before we go…
Can I just say that I’ll miss some things of the year.
The song that’s playing right now on my iMac is reminding me of what I want.
One more time, please?
